As we celebrate the end of the 2023-2024 school year, please join us in congratulating Mrs. Susan Strube, Principal of West Newton Elementary, who is the Indiana Association of School Principals District 7 Elementary Principal of the Year!! We are #DecaturProud to have such an amazing leader serving the students and families of West Newton!!
“Not only am I Decatur Proud to be the principal of West Newton Elementary, but what a tremendous blessing it is to me that I am the principal of a school in the community in which I live. My husband and both daughters all attended West Newton Elementary so it’s wonderful to carry on the legacy of being a West Newton Tiger,” said Strube. “I consider it an absolute honor to be entrusted to take care of this corner of the world in the MSD of Decatur Township.”
Mrs. Strube has served Decatur Township as a teacher for 22 years and administrator for 15 years. The majority of her career has been at West Newton Elementary as a teacher, instructional coach, and principal. Additionally, she has taught at Decatur Middle School and served as a Director/AP at Lynwood Elementary.
Mrs. Strube also shared about her love for the principalship: “I am at the time in my educational career to be one of the lucky principals who actually gets to see how my staff and I have touched the future through our students with teaching and learning. I am always thankful to the West Newton families for sharing their students with us each day; I hope that I bring our students as much joy each day that they bring to me. I am grateful that I have such an amazing staff with the mindset that every student is a capable learner and can be successful.”
Congratulations Mrs. Strube, on your well-deserved honor!
