A Message from the Superintendent
The Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township serves over 6,500 students each year. We provide many great educational opportunities for our students throughout the school year to help them become "Tomorrow Ready"! In Decatur Township, our mission remains centered on providing an exceptional educational experience that nurtures the intellectual, emotional, and social development of our students. We recognize that this journey is not one we take alone – it is only through the strong partnership between our schools, families, and community that we are able to provide the opportunities and resources our students need to succeed.
Throughout the school year, we will continue to prioritize the well-being of our students, the quality of instruction, and the development of innovative, inclusive programs that meet the diverse needs of all learners. Our teachers, staff, and administrators are fully committed to ensuring that our students are supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential. We offer many opportunities for our students in programs such as the Decatur High Ability Academy, the Decatur Township School for Excellence, Liberty Preschool, and Small Learning Communities (SLC) in our middle school and high school. We provide so many opportunities for our high school students both within our learning communities and through community partnerships, including the Indiana College Core dual-credit courses, Advanced Placement, and Career Technical Education courses at the Decatur Central Career Center.
We are also committed to maintaining open lines of communication with our families. Together, we can create a collaborative environment where we can celebrate achievements, address challenges, and ensure that every child has the tools they need to succeed. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our schools or district office with any questions, ideas, or concerns. We welcome your involvement and input. Thank you for your ongoing partnership in making the MSD of Decatur Township a place where learning thrives and students grow.
Dr. Scott Collins, Superintendent
