AYS in Decatur Township- Emergency Basis

AYS is the best way for all kids to learn, grow, have fun and stay safe in an environment parents already trust: at your school. AYS currently provides before- and after-school and school break programs at each of Decatur Township’s elementary schools, including Liberty Early Elementary. AYS is prepared to help families in Decatur Township in emergency situations, including snow days and delays.

When school is closed due to weather, AYS operates full-day programming at Valley Mills Elementary and is open to any Decatur elementary or middle school student. AYS will make every attempt to run at this location on snow days, unless Marion County is under a state of emergency. AYS’ full-day programming for snow sites looks similar to school break programs. Students participate in a variety of activities, both staff-lead and student-lead, throughout the day. AYS provides a morning and afternoon snack, and the children bring their own sack lunch.

When a school is on a delay, AYS will open our before-school sites at each elementary school at their regular time (6:30am). Families who do not currently use AYS but whose child is in a school with an AYS program may attend the before-school program for a school delay.

Families that are not currently enrolled in AYS for before- and after-school services can complete a Provisional Registration Form at the site (an abbreviated version of our registration form that provides emergency contact info) and pay the registration fee. AYS recommends that families that may need to utilize AYS services, even just for emergencies, register at the beginning of the school year. Online registration is available at www.ayskids.org/online-registration/. The registration fee is $40. The daily rate for families just needing AYS on an emergency basis is $36 for full-day programming on school closing days. School delay rates for those families vary depending on school start time and student arrival time, ranging from $6 to $24.
