Friday, November 20. The Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) recognized Decatur Central’s Todd Sconce as 2014-2015 Marion County (District 7) Assistant Principal of the Year. This honor was given to him by his peers.

Todd Sconce currently serves as Director of the ICE Small Learning Community. He has been praised for his team building skills among staff, students and families while guiding all stakeholders toward a vision for success. “He builds relationships with all students and their families, genuinely shows that he cares and guides each child as if he or she was his own. Statistically, his students’ ECA scores continue to climb every year as Mr. Sconce understands that building a culture where student learning comes first is critical to everyone’s success,” said Dr. Prusiecki, Superintendent.

Sconce joined Decatur Central High School in 1997 as a social studies teacher, football and wrestling coach. He credits these early leadership roles as inspiration for becoming a successful Small Learning Community Director. “We have truly fostered an environment that is a caring, student centered environment where all stakeholders care about the whole child. Not just academically, but socially and physically as well,” said Sconce, in reference to the ICE Community that he leads.

Sconce believes that his duty is to help all staff and students to be as successful as possible in meeting their fullest potential. He often says, “We can accomplish anything if enough people care.”
