Decatur Township School Police Department Named NASRO Model Agency

The MSD of Decatur Township is proud to share that the Decatur Township School Police Department earned the “Model Agency Award” from the National Association of School Resource Officers on July 15, 2024.

The “Model Agency Award” is presented to agencies that exemplify the NASRO Triad Model training, policies, and standards. The NASRO Triad consists of Law Enforcement Officer, Public Safety Educator, and Informal Counselor. These practices and roles ensure professional service to the school community. NASRO recognized the MSD of Decatur Township Police Department, “for its creative and innovative approach to school-based policing.” 

DTSP Chief Terance Smith shared, “I’m extremely humbled to accept this award on behalf of our team on a national stage. I could not be more proud to work alongside a group as dedicated, passionate, and committed to Decatur students and families.”
