MSD of Decatur Township to Expand Community Dinner Program
The MSD of Decatur Township, in partnership with Second Helpings, will expand its Community Dinner program to offer a free, hot dinner every Thursday from 5:30-6:30 at the Blue and Gold Academy (5650 Mann Rd.). The school district has been hosting a Tuesday dinner at Stephen Decatur Elementary (3425 S. Foltz) since April and will continue to do so.
“Our mission states that we are, ‘Student Invested, Community Connected.’ I am extremely proud that we are able to address the needs of our Decatur Township Community by offering two free dinners a week to our students, their families and anyone else who wants or needs a good, hot meal,” Said Dr. Matt Prusiecki, Superintendent.
Food for these dinners is generously provided by Second Helpings and served by volunteers. Dinner service will be suspended during Holiday Break, December 21-January 4. Tuesday dinners will resume at Stephen Decatur Elementary on January 5. Thursday meals will resume at the Blue and Gold Academy on January 7.
The MSD of Decatur Township Mission states: The MSD of Decatur Township is Student Invested, Community Connected. We prioritize Student Learning, Safety and Customer Service, fostering a support system for our families.
