DC Band Program Brings Home the Big Win!

We are DecaturProud to congratulate members of the Decatur Central High School Band Program who won the Indiana State Championship for Concert Percussion in Class A this past weekend in Terre Haute.  The winning score was a 92.675 is was the highest score of the day in all of the classification.  We are incredibly proud of these students, as well as our amazing percussion director Josh Schneider.

Additionally, the Decatur Central Indoor Winds group earned a silver medal.  This group is led by DMS Director, Dan Herrick, and HS Director, Zach Crowder.  The talented students dazzled the audience with their performance!

The accolades keep coming – Decatur Central student Carlee Merkling is the recipient of the Evans Scholarship worth $1000.  Evans Drumheads has been in the music industry for more than 40 years, and are considered innovators in the industry.  Our own Decatur Central band program utilizes Evans Drumheads, and we are thrilled for Carlee for her hard work in earning this scholarship award.

This all comes on the heels of the Winter Guard earning a silver medal a few weeks ago thanks to Meghan Brackett and her staff. Accolades continue to come as our students learn and grow under the leadership of the band program, Mr. Tim Cox.  His selfless leadership drives the program and inspires students to work hard to achieve the highest levels of greatness.

These students are amazing, and so are the parents (and staff) who continually help to drive equipment, feed, move, support, cheer, dress, build things, wash, and encourage them!  Decatur Central High School music program continues to amaze its audiences and community with stellar performances, impeccable work ethic, and high achievement.  We are DecaturProud!!
