The Decatur Central Wrestling Team has had a very successful State Tournament series. The DC Wrestlers came into the State Series with a young team (4 freshmen, 5 sophomores, 2 juniors and 2 seniors). At Mooresville Sectional, the Hawks wrestled very well and qualified 3 wrestlers for the IHSAA Mooresville Regional Championships, Jadon Galvin 126lbs, Braden Ferguson 145lbs and Jaylen Adkins 160lbs.
The following week, the DC Hawks qualified two for the IHSAA Evansville Semi-State tournament. Jadon Galvin and Jaylen Adkins both placed fourth at Regionals. While B. Ferguson had a challenging match with the eventual Regional Champion and was knocked out of the Regional Championship.
Jadon Galvin and Jaylen Adkins traveled down to Evansville last weekend to battle for the opportunity to represent Decatur Central High School at IHSAA State Championship. When the draws came out, both Jadon Galvin and Jaylen Adkins received a tough draw, but they were ready and focused on achieving their goal of making it to States.
Galvin wrestled tough all day, however, he lost to the eventual 126lb Semi-State Champion. Jadon Galvin had an amazing sophomore campaign; he finished with a record of 29-15, achieving a team leading 17 pins. Galvin is only a sophomore and will have two more years to achieve his goal of placing at the IHSAA State Championships.
Adkins was determined to finish his senior year at Bank Life Fieldhouse by qualifying for the IHSAA State Championship. He wrestled lights out the first round and pinned the number 1 seed of the bracket. Next round, he had to face an opponent who beat him in overtime earlier in the year. He revenged the lost from earlier in the year and with this victory he QUAFILED for the IHSAA State Championship. He continued to wrestle tough the rest and the day and finish in 4th place.
Jaylen Adkins will be representing Decatur Central High School this Friday at Banker Life Fieldhouse. Information on the State Championship can be found below. #Hawkstyle#DCWrestlingFamily
