Decatur Central Speech Team Competes

On Saturday morning, February 12, the members of the Decatur Central Speech braved the bitter cold temperatures and competed up in Logansport. Elena Trujillo placed 3rd in Poetry, Emma Hart placed 5th in Discussion, Chayton Hudson and Christian Toms placed 5th in Memorized Duo, Jacob Noble came in 8th in Prose, and Kaushal Patel came in 8th in International Extemporaneous. It was a good weekend and the Hawks represented well.

On Saturday, February 26, 8 members of the DCHS Speech Team competed at Sectionals. Marcus Creech, Zach Carter, Jacob Nobel, Christian Toms, Elana Trujillo, Emma Hart, Kaushal Patel, and Emmanuel Oyebode  all represented DCHS and Decatur Township well. Thanks to the work of Deanna Benjamin who is away on maternity leave, Mr. Brent Dikeman was able to inherit a strong group of competitors. The team was able to score enough points to place 4th, 4 of the events were able to advance to State on March 12.

 It was a good day to be a Hawk and as always, we are Decatur Proud of our students!!
