MSD Decatur Township Names Justin Dixson as Athletic Director

Tuesday, March 8, the school board of the MSD of Decatur Township approved Superintendent Dr. Prusiecki’s recommendation to hire Justin Dixson as the school district’s athletic director.  “Through an extensive interview process, Mr. Dixson has proven the dedication and determination to lead our first class athletic department that helps reinforce life strategies for success both on and off the field,” said Dr. Prusiecki.

Dixson is a 2002 Decatur Central graduate. He earned his Bachelor degree from Butler University (2006) and a Master’s degree from Western Kentucky University in 2013. Dixson joined the MSD of Decatur Township as a social studies teacher and head football coach in 2009.  As head football coach, the Decatur Central Hawks became the Midstate Conference Football Champions in 2011 and 2014. Dixson was recognized as a 2014 Indiana All Star Football Coach, and 2015 Marion County Football Coach of the year. 

“I am thrilled to have been selected to work with such a great group of people in a community that has always been my home.  I look forward to the opportunity to work with the students, families, faculty, and administration to continue the long tradition of academic and athletic excellence as we empower growth and development through a high level of expectations well beyond high school graduation,” Said Justin Dixson.

Dixson will finish the 2015-2016 school year as a Decatur Central High School Social Studies teacher. He will resign from his position as head football coach. His athletic director’s contract will begin on July 1, 2016. Assistant athletic director, Derrek Staton, will continue to manage the athletic department until July 1.
