FACILITY OVERVIEW – ARMSTRONG PAVILION
The Armstrong Pavilion is more than a school gym, it’s a public recreation facility provided by MSD of Decatur Township for the entire community to use year-round. Its doors are open to people of all ages, from middle school students to senior citizens.
Built in 1989, the Armstrong Pavilion has all the amenities you would find at most major chain fitness centers, such as basketball courts, yoga classes, a weight room, indoor track, aquatic center and more. The Pavilion sees daily use as a training facility for the school’s varsity, middle school and youth sports teams, providing both indoor and outdoor sports the ability to practice in inclement weather. Due to the facility’s convenient location on the Decatur middle and high school campus, the Armstrong Pavilion can be used during the day for middle and high school classes. It also helps parents because the facility is especially easy for student athletes to get to practice before or after school. Even students that do not participate in school sports still enjoy using the Pavilion as a safe and affordable location to be active with friends.
Similar benefits extend to community members, who appreciate an affordable and convenient way to stay physically active. Members join the Armstrong Pavilion to lose weight, rehabilitate from an injury, improve stamina or complete a variety of additional health goals. As an added bonus, many members have formed lasting friendships while improving their health at the Pavilion while enjoying Dance Jam class on Monday and Wednesday nights, a run or walk on the 800 meter track or strength training.
The Armstrong Pavilion provides community members and stakeholders an affordable and convenient way to stay physically active and achieve their health goals. For more information on memberships to the Armstrong Pavilion, please visit this site.
